:: PERSONALITY ::
Matro is usually calm, but can easily be angered by jokes about his size or powers. He usually doesn’t hide anything from people, and is considered very open. He is willing to defend anybody he sees being harassed in what would appear to him in an unjust way, even if the person did in reality deserves it. He has an avid fear of storms, and can be easily frighten by the sight of lightning. Despite his appearance he normally has a distaste for blood, which is only changed by the more animalistic side of him.
Matro at times loses control of himself and reacts off of pure animal instinct. This mostly happens during extremely stressful moments, and if he spends too much time trying to fight the more animalistic urges; he is capable of fighting his animalistic urges for roughly four months without breaking. Mostly this does result in him acting on a level between normal bat nature, hanging from ledges more then normally and giving off a high pitched screech, and close to vampiric, he will often tackle the closest living thing and try to drink it’s blood. While in this state Matro is more sustainable to loud noises and flashing lights, but isn’t consciously aware of what he is doing.
He can at times be antisocial when reading, despite the fact that he tries to be as sociable as possible. Matro is often sitting on a high up place, claiming he is listening to the voice of the wind; saying how it reminds him of soft music. Devoting a lot of time to fencing practice, Matro is quiet adapt with a saber, but despite his efforts he still believes he has a long way to go.
"You're not the only one with gifts."
:: MUTATION ::
- ::Vespertilionidae characteristics::
As mentioned above Matro has several physical bat like characteristics. He has two bat wings connecting to his back shortly inside the shoulder blades that stretch out about five inches farther then his arms. He also has sharp fang like teeth and finger like toes that allow him to grasp things, mostly used on hanging bars and tree branches, and pointed ears. A physical characteristic that isn’t visible to the naked eye would be the extra circuit of blood veins that travel through his body allowing him to hang upside for long period of times without non-ground related dangerous side effects.- ::Flight::
As one may think from having wings Matro is capable of flight. His top speed at the moment is roughly thirty-seven miles per hour, but hitting this mark is hard enough for him. Matro can usually maintain flight for about fifteen minutes on a nice day, about seven on stormy or extremely windy days, but these times can be heavily reduced if he is carrying something that weighs more then twenty-two pounds, or if he is heavily injured. That being said, he is able to push past these points, at times of emergency, but just as a normal person would be with running, it would take a humongous toll on his body, and can force him to collapse if pushed to far. He is able to attain a higher altitude by tilting the tips of his wings up at an angle, and tilt them down to gradually fall lower. While going into a freefall, by folding his wings in as he flies, Matro is capable of achieving high speeds depending on his altitude. This could be a slight issue sense he has yet to learn how to regain flight after freefalling. He is also capable of performing a u-tern in a matter of seconds. While he doesn’t glide, Matro is capable of actual flight, and has over two dozen joints in his wings. He is able to turn easily by folding in one wing and stretching the other one out. He is capable of folding them over his shoulders to, so he can slide his jacket on over them if needed.- ::Acute Hearing and Echolocation::
Matro can hear, at the most, about a quarter of a mile away, due to his acute hearing. He is capable of hearing any thing in an enclosed space about the size of a classroom. When a person whispering, Matro can hear it as if they where talking to him, and, while a useful ability for several cases, can cause troubles at times. He loves to sit and listen to wind blowing, claiming that it sounds like an instrument when it is amplified. Loud sound such as explosions can be heard about three miles away by Matro. He is able to tell people apart just by there vocal patterns, and if he knows the person well enough he can easily tell an impostor. His hearing can easily be a double sided sword, cause while he is able to hear things far away certain loud sounds and high pitches can be crippling to him, and can even cause him to black out. Matro is able to whistle at a high enough pitch that the sounds wave bounce back toward him off items allowing to see where they are, even without his glasses or in a dark place. The main limit to this is distance and area, the sound can only reach about ten feet in front of him, and doesn’t work in a place that is specially designed for echoing or small enclosed cement rooms.- ::Id control:: At times Matro can lose control of his primal side, which the young teen calls Id. Id in a sense is combining the animalistic nature of the bat and the more primal survivalist side of the human. He is more adapt to flying and landing then what Matro is and for the most part is more flexible. It lives on the main thought of feed, sleep, and survive. Id is extremely weak to telepathic attacks and mostly breaks free from points of heightened emotional moments, mostly fear, anger, and stress. While in this state Matro, the real Matro, finds himself floating in a dark void. And while he is unable to see or hear what Id is doing he can get an idea from the few feelings that Id is going through. He is unable to release himself from this state at the moment, and the easiest way is to knock unconscious his physical body. He has enough control to force out a few words, and with practice might be able to control Id.
"Living from day to day, moving from place to place, with no memory of who or what you are."
:: History ::
Matro was born in a small town in Oklahoma a few miles south of Oklahoma City, and was known to be a mutant at birth because of his appearance. His parents where thought to be mutants also because of this, and eventually left the child in the barn, where he was raised by his mother, away from the prying eyes of the town. His mother told them that he died soon after birth, and few records where kept on it. Matro didn't understand why they did this, but believed his mother when she told him it had to do with him being a special child. Eventually his father left for war, and unfortunately never returned. It was undetermined if he died or if he just fell in love with some one else, but the fact remained that he wasn‘t around anymore. Matro felt uneasy not having his father around anymore, to the point where he felt guilty that his father was gone. Eventually when he turned seven his mother became horribly depressed, and died in pit of sorrow when she stopped eating or doing anything. Leaving Matro to fend for him self. With little knowledge about the outside world, and with an ever growing grasp on writing and reading, something his mom was very persistent about, Matro opened the window to the barn and used it as a doorway to the outside world.
One of the first things he remembered hearing a person complaining about the growing mutant population, and, despite not knowing what he meant by mutant population, was unaware on why the man was complaining. It was soon he started stealing food from orchards at night, and taking any pencils, papers, and books he could find, keeping them under a loose floorboard in the barn. He was eventually captured on film, and was called The Oklahoman Vampire, The Thief With Wings, and Abnocto. When he was ten a tall man and his young daughter moved in the old house across the field toward the barn. Matro was confused by these people, who acted nothing like the others he met.
It was a warm summer night when the young bat was laying on top of the barn, listening to the night wind's call. Hearing a cry from the field that separated the barn and the house, Matro looked up and saw a wolf corner the small girl by a fence. He knew what had to be done, and before he could say a word he knocked the wolf a little a way, and hit the ground hard on his landing. The wolf quickly bit back at him and caught his right arm right below the elbow. Giving out a sharp howl as the beast clamped down and refused to let go. As Matro struggled to get the animal to let go, and in a instant bit down on the animal in the same manner.
The beast let go and took off running. Matro tried to avoid being seen by the young girl. He was shocked when the girl hugged him, and called him brother. Matro was shocked even more as she pulled his good arm in the direction of the house, where a man was standing on the porch with a pitch fork in hand. Matro started to back off, when the man asked him to come inside to look at the arm. Matro made his way into the home he never knew, and saw the young girl sit at the table. It wasn't long before his arm was bandaged, and as Matro tried to avoid eye sight with the man; he was surprised with what he heard. The man introduced himself as Issac Ora, and the girl was Alice, this was shocking to the young flyer due to the fact he was half expecting to be chased off after his arm was bandaged.
It was the next day that Issac had walked to the small barn, where Matro had made his way to after his arm was fixed. He called for the young flyer to come out, and handed him a handful of papers. It was all his birth records, found in a locked box in the attic. For about three months Matro lived in the barn frequently playing with Alice in the field that separated their two homes. Matro was approached by Issac after one day of playing with Alice, and said if he wanted that he could be part of his family with his daughter. Matro nodded and made his way to the house, where Issac had called up all the records and adopted Matro. Matro was surprised to find out that Issac was a writer for a living, and moved to the country side for the peace and quiet. In a few years Matro got better with his flying, he was able to reach higher places and he wasn’t struggling with his landings as much, and was taught the art of fencing by Issac, who had practiced it as a kid and still kept working at it as an adult. Matro liked the thought of being with a family again, and felt for the first time at home in a long time. As time went on his eyesight started to go bad, and need to wear glasses full time. Despite his lack of an education, he learned several things from Issac, and he grew to enjoy the acting works of Lon Chaney.
When he turned fourteen Matro was first told about the recent accounts against mutants, and, despite not ever realizing he was what the others called mutants, first noticed how Issac was afraid for the teenager’s safety. Matro understood, and when he turned sixteen Issac was able to talk into going to a school for gifted people in New York. Matro was given a green jacket, a cross necklace, and a leather bound copy of the collection of Sherlock Homes stories from Issac and Alice, and soon left for the new school.

Matro glared down at the man that was cowering on the floor. He remembered Alice running from the room, to the others on the floor above them. "Why? Why did you do it?" His hands clinched in anger as he glared down at the man, his words burned like poison. "You took her from her home, kept her from her family and caused her to probably never sleep peacefully again. And for what, huh? A few thousand dollars because our father?"
He felt the anger build up inside of him, with every thought of what Alice had gone through. He wanted to make sure this man felt every bit of pain as she did fear, but something held him back. He raised his fist about to bring it down onto the man, every cell in his body wanted to. He even heard the voice calling to him. Do it, he deserves it?
His eyes flashed red for a split second as his wings shot out. He shook off the feeling when he heard feet running down the stairs. "Your going to be punshined for your crimes, and your going to pay for what you did." He glared down at the man, as he lifted the man up by the collar of his shirt. Tossing the man across the room, Matro walked across the room to the window, and slipped out as the small group of police officers barged into the room. Be safe Alice.
