"If you knew the kind of person you used to be...the work we did together..."[/color]
:: PERSONALITY ::
Blink is a bit of a loner. Being raised on the streets and by a band of cut purses doesn't really help with social skills. She's a bit awkward when you first talk to her as she doesn't really know how to react to polite conversation. Her humor is usually forced due to her nerves. She's a bit shy, but do not mistake her for someone who's silent. Blink has no shame in speaking her mind. She's strong willed and refuses to back down once she's made up her mind.
However this can be detrimental as she has a little issue with being wrong. Being your own person for so long, and making all of the 'right' decisions for yourself really took a toll. She has severe abandonment issues and does her best not to get close to anyone. All in all she's not a bad person, she just has issues. Over time with help she may find that not being alone isn't so bad.
She has a deep love for all things music, video games, and Batman, though she keeps that to herself just as she keeps everything else to herself. Desperately wanting to fit in somewhere, though appearing to not give a s***, she does her best to be someone else. Especially since she can't figure out who she is. She's sweet once you get past her hard exterior, and extremely caring. She would be a fiercely loyal friend if she could get past her abandonment issues.
In a way she's a very skittish, yet strangely strong, young woman. She's cautious with people, but wants to find her place. She won't back down, ever, especially now that she knows she's not the only mutant out there going through these weird changes.
Its hard enough being a teenager!
When it comes to the cure she was tempted to take it to be just like everyone else. Especially as her powers changed her outward appearance more and more. But despite feeling like an outcast most of her life she couldn't find the 'strength', or cowardice to actually go through with it. Now with the knowledge that it doesn't even work she's happy she didn't succumb to taking it.
"You're not the only one with gifts."
:: MUTATION ::
- :: Teleportation ::
Blink has the ability to teleport herself and others at will. This is a very tricky power and she's far from having it mastered. She still manages to appear in the wrong place or teleport when she's upset. She's trying to figure out the mechanics of this gift. Her teleportations are always accompanied by a "blink!" sound, from which she takes her codename- :: Enhanced Agility ::
Blink is very quick and agile. Whether this agility increase is due to years of living in the streets and needing to be so or due to a mutation is unknown.- :: With More Training ::
Blink will be able teleport large masses, including sizable groups of people. She will also be able to teleport only parts of objects. She can open portals that displace projectiles and even enemies that threaten her. She can also focus her ability into short, transparent, crystal-like javelins, which teleport whatever persons or objects they touch. She can charge her javelins so they can cut through objects by teleporting the matter elsewhere as they strike or they can be charged to stun opponents unconscious by putting them "out of phase". She usually keeps a supply of these in a quiver around her back, but can make them, one at a time, at will.
"Living from day to day, moving from place to place, with no memory of who or what you are."
:: History ::
Blink does not acknowledge her real parents seeing as they left her to fend for herself in an unknown country on a 'family trip' at age 9. Having been born with her bright magenta hair and her skin already slightly dark pink as well they had treated her with such fear and loathing it drove her out of her home. Her parents didn't want to raise a freak and as a result Blink left to find a better life. One that she most definitely did not find right away. Or at all until very recently.
It didn't take long, in a city like New York, that a band of cut purses found her. However cliche it was she managed to steal and panhandle for a bit of extra cash here and there. It was in this same year that she, while trying to snatch a mans wallet, somehow teleported past him and into traffic.
When Blink closed her eyes to wait for the hammering of the car she once again teleported into the bank across the street. Of course this brought a lot of attention to her, as well as the mutants, and for a while she actually thought about getting the cure. She couldn't control her sporadic teleporting and it was becoming a real hassle. While waiting in line for this "cure" she watched on the large screens that danced over New York like some sort of electrical guardians, and watched what little they showed on the news of the Alcatraz battle.
This inspired her.
Blink felt that if all these mutants would band together to stop the creation of the cure than surely she could rise above her "curse" and make use of it. Although she wasn't exactly the heroic type she could still live with this power and rule it rather than it ruling her. It was only weeks later she stumbled upon a fellow mutant. At the time she didn't know he was a mutant he just looked like some shmuck who left his wallet exposed. Blink went to grab it, snatched it, and as she turned to make her get away her powers kicked in. Instead of a clean take she found her face against a cement wall and after that she promptly met darkness.
When Blink woke up she found herself in the Institute med bay, staring up at the face of said shmuck as well as an adult. Immediately she thought she'd been arrested, but they informed her of her whereabouts, as well as what the institute was all about. It was fate, the way Blink saw it, and after that she just stayed. She agreed to train with them and to learn how to deal with her mutant abilities and even help if need be.
Where else would she go? Its not like she had a home.
"Scream for me."

Clarice tightened the straps on her backpack, her nearly pupil-less green eyes dashing back and fourth. She searched for her next mark, needing a bit of cash for food. She'd used her last bit of stolen money yesterday evening to buy herself what little she could for dinner. Besides it was hard to live off of the cheap stuff in the market when most of it requires household items like a microwave.. or worse a stove. She looked down at the ground a moment, scowling at her worn out converse. She'd been fortunate to come across those while someone was trying on a dress. Apparently she had to try on teh shoes with it or else it lost the effect.
Whatever, her loss was Clarice's gain.
But stealing for so many years took its toll on you. The young girl was growing skinnier and skinnier. It was growing nearly impossible to put her dexterous hands to use. Her appearance was beginning to give her away, and she didn't know what she was going to do when people started to stare indefinitely. She'd never get a meal when that damned day came.
But that was a worry for later days, first she needed to snag a wallet. Without teleporting if possible. Lately it had been growing more and more frequent, and it was seriously beginning to p** her off. As if she needed something else to make her feel anymore like a freak. The eyes, ears, skin, and hair wasn't enough? Now whatever creator was up there had to throw in a little teleportation to boot? Puh, what a putz.
Removing her angry thoughts for the time being she scanned the crowd, trying to be inconspicuous. But it was easy to find the young man gazing longingly into the shop window. He wasn't paying attention, which made him a fantastic mark. Blink slid in with the crowd, her eyes glancing towards him on the occasion to make sure he hadn't wandered off. But as if fate decreed it his eyes were only for the... Is that a sewing machine?
Interesting hobbies.
Regardless she moved past him with the determination of an ox. Clarice shoved her shoulder into his, immediately moving backwards; wallet in hand. She palmed the leather into her pocket before holding her hands up for the apology.
"I'm so sorry, yeah? I wasn't payin' attent-" But of course whatever metaphysical being above them decided now was the perfect time to screw with her!
BLINK!!
Clarice appeared in the middle of traffic, as per the usual, and stared at the raging driver who did his best to slam on the brakes. Lucky for her she vanished once more.
BLINK!!
She stood on the other side of the street for nearly half a second, trying to put her feet in motion for a much needed escape. She could have sworn she met the eyes of her mark before taking off at a shaky run away from the now amazed crowd.
BLINK!!
Damn... Was all she could think before she felt the pain of the brick wall meeting the side of her face. Darkness swam over her vision as she stared up at the faces who circled her. Pain radiated from her face, but it was slowly fading as the sea of blackness overtook her; dragging her down into unknown depths.
