:: PERSONALITY ::
Cory is a little bit of a flirt, often very nice to people she's just met and accepting of most 'different' personalities. She's very sympathetic toward people who have been through any sort of difficult experience. She tends to look at situations from everybody else's point of view, often negating her own. She never feels justified to be upset because she can understand why the other person or people are acting or reacting the way that they are, and therefore feels as though she is in the wrong or owes an apology.
Cory will go out of her way to make her friends happy, often ignoring her own wants or needs to make sure that everybody else is taken care of. She will jump to the occasion when her friends are upset, acting almost as a Councillor or even a clown if need be. However, if it comes to her attention that the person she is helping is attention-seeking or threatens to kill themselves for some sort of personal gain, she gets very angry and it takes a very long time for her to forgive them for that.
Cory has a slight anger problem, it takes her a very long time to become angered, but once she does it's often very explosive and violent. A wide array of things tend to set her off, however rarely they actually come up. She has relatively low self-esteem and often feels very threatened by women she thinks are more attractive than her.
She is forgetful and lives in an organised disarray. Her room is full of different kinds of paint and drawing pencils, along with spray paint that she has used for several years to create very elaborate graffiti in her home town. There are two or three paintings that she is proud of hung on the walls of her room. She often feels as though if it weren't for her art, she would have lost her mind long ago. She spends a lot of time playing some of her favorite games on her old Gameboy Color or Sega Genesis, typically disliking the fast-paced FPS style of most of today's games. She's particularly fond of the more recent Prince of Persia games and other such RPGs.

:: MUTATION ::
- :: Plant Manipulation ::
The ability to control and manipulate plant-life, bending it to her will; causing trees to grow vines and constrict potential dangers or making flowers grow and bloom before your eyes. At this point, this power isn't fully developed, limited to allowing her to run a decently sized nursery by speeding up the blooming process.- :: Energy Conversion ::
The ability to draw the natural energy from the plantlife around her and use it, typically as some sort of physical blast or concentrated eerie green ball of light, useful in dark situations. This leaves the plants only slightly wilted, as she cannot take more energy than the plant can give without dying. This power, as of yet, has not manifested and is only beginning to form.- :: Poison ::
Distributed via a retractable spine or thorn in the heels of either of her hands, has a disorienting effect, causing colourful and unstable hallucinations, which are not incredibly vivid, and severe delirium. This was the first of her powers to manifest and the easiest to control.

:: History ::
Cory was born in Kitchener, Ontario Canada to a humble mother and driven father. She lived a relatively uneventful childhood aside from consistent bullying at school, which she supposed was standard to most children, save the bullies. When she was ten years old, however, her father was killed in a plane crash. She was spared most of the details but the trauma itself sent her into a state of depression. For a year, she wouldn't say a word to anybody, for another year, the only person she would speak to was her mother and during this time, she gained a great interest into the study of plants and began to grow a garden that spanned over the entirety of her backyard.
When she was 12 years old, she began to notice a strange marking on the heels of both of her hands. She studied these at length, and eventually found that if she bent her hand far enough back or if she hit something with enough force a small spine would come out, but she never could study the effects of the strange substance that was on them because the venom itself never had any effect on her. It was only later that she was able to decipher these effects, upon getting into a fight with her boyfriend at the time, she pushed his shoulders back and he became incredibly confused and disoriented for a few moments. Again she was never able to study the full effects of the venom, but at least she knew now that she could protect herself with it.
Before deciding that she should attend Xavier Institute, she coerced her mother into opening a nursery that flourished because she was able to speed up the growth of the plants, not by very much at first, but enough to claim the title of "best nursery in town". As this power matured, however, it began to frighten her a little bit. It seemed that the older she got, the more powers manifested in her. She became nervous about not being able to control any future powers that manifested and explained what was happening to her mother.
Her mother was incredibly understanding and supportive, and it took her some time to find any information on the Xavier Institute, but once she did she provided her daughter with all the information necessary for her to make an informed decision on whether or not she was ready to leave home for a boarding school of that caliber. After much deliberation, Cory eventually decided that it would be best to be around others with mutations, and perhaps that the staff there would be able to help her learn to control her powers. She was nervous about leaving home, having always been very close to her mother, but she was even more nervous about hurting her by accident in the future. She left for New York at the age of 17.

Cory sat at a table, drinking her mediocre coffee with a small collection of Chuck Palahniuk books in front of her, missing her Tim Hortons triple-triple. Maybe later on in the day she could go hunt down a sour cream glazed donut...
This culling poem is a blessing. Why do you think it was created in the first place? It will save millions of people from the slow terrible death we're headed for from disease, from famine, drought, from solar radiation, from war, from all the places we're headed.
Lullaby was possibly one of her favorite books, and the most recently added to her collection. Chuck Palahniuk was one of her favorite authors. She greatly adored being thrust into a realistic and gritty fictional reality, in which culling songs actually killed, men started groups to take down credit card corporations, writers were abducted and forced to live without food and crazy contractors blocked off entire rooms in people's homes with creepy and prophetic writing on the walls inside.
The details were so perfect, the story lines so gritty and the description of one story in particular was enough to make anybody sick to their stomach. Ah, the solitude of reading your favorite books while drinking not-so-great coffee. This morning was nearly perfect, but it still needed something.
Cory was comfortable and happy in her black skinny jeans, coupled - as always - with her checkered leg warmers and Chuck Taylor's, and for once her shirt actually sported a picture that wasn't specifically video game related, but equally as nerdy; a huge picture of David Bowie from the movie "Labyrinth".
She was torn away from her thoughts by the faint sound of music blasting through headphones entering the room. Indeed, it was the man she recognized from her orientation, presumably buying a cup of coffee. She turned her attention back to her book as he did so, almost completely preoccupied by the wonderful and near-vulgar flow of words before her.
It took her a moment, but this morning was missing a person to smoke with.
