Remy LeBeau was a young man who was finally enjoying a little bit of peace and quiet for once. He had spent the last few years on the run, and everything in between. He was wearing black workout pants, a New Orleans Saints Jimmy Graham jersey, and his gloves. He was heading into the schools gym to get some working out going on.
He pushed the door open walking inside noticing some of the other regular guys and girls that worked out. He had just finished dinner, and wanted to get a workout in before his shower. He tied his hair back into a ponytail as he found the treadmill. He had deemed today cardio day. He was just gonna run the treadmill for an hour, maybe more. He like to stay lean, and wasn’t overly focused on bulk.
He didn’t want to be a bulky guy looking around at some of the other meatheads in the room. It would be so easy to beat anyone of them in a one on one fight. Even if they tried to jump him he could easily avoid them, and beat them through an extended fight. He turned the machine on as he hung his water bottle from the handles on the machine. He was going to be at this for a while. He wondered what Blink was up to right about now. He hadn’t seen her since lunch.
He felt bad that they hadn’t seen as much of each other lately, but he had classes now. He was even getting better with his mastery over his powers. He was already good at control, but now he was learning to control the size of the blast. He stepped up onto the treadmill and began jogging in place as he looked in the mirror his demonic eyes staring back at himself. He couldn’t help marvel at them. He loved his eyes, they were so unique to him, and like nothing he had ever seen. Well other than Blink’s eyes that was.
He started looking around the gym figuring out what he’d work out tomorrow. He was probably going to go with a dumbells for his arms. He wanted to bulk them up just a bit, but he focused back on the mirror. He wanted to try to keep his focus, and not let his mind wander like it normally did. That was the key to controlling his powers, and figured that focus while working out would help him get better with controlling his powers. He had even took to trying to control his breathing to help out more. Suddenly the door opened as a few girls walked into the gym. He smirked as they walked by in front of him. He winked at them as they made eye contact.
He was a sucker for a beautiful girl in tight clothes, and they were certainly pushing the limits of their workout clothes. He returned his focus back to his reflection in the mirror as he needed to focus, and what better test than to focus on his running instead of two beautiful girls not far from him. Beautiful women had always been his biggest weakness after all. He grabbed his bottle taking a strong shot of water as he kept pace. He was surprised at how well he was doing, but sadly it had only been a few minutes. He reached into his pocket pulling out his MP3 player, and putting the earbuds in his ears. He would use his music to help him pass the time, and block out the distractions in the room.

Outfit
Well today had sucked. Class had been a bore. Lunch had been uneventful, though she caught Remy in her sight for a bit. It was good to see he was still breathing. But the day itself had been altogether too slow. Clarice was used to something happening. Anything, really. But instead she'd been jipped of anything fun and retired to her room for the time being. She had homework, and it sat patiently on her desk in anxious wait. Well it'd be there for a few more hours, in fact she'd probably do it an hour before the class itself. Besides she had important tasks to take care of.
Like saving the world from zombies.
Blink sat infront of her small tv, one she'd bought with her 'earnings'. She held the ps3 controller firmly in her hands as she shot zombie after zombie on the screen. The turtle beach head set on her head screamed the game noises in her ears and as a result she jumped when one of the zombies came up behind her. "Are you serious me SkullKid114? You can't watch one window?!" She barked at the player who replied with some very harsh words about her gender. Which she returned in kind, laughing it off.
Once that game ended, terribly, Clarice crawled towards the ps3 to turn it off and maybe grab something to eat. Her stomach rumbled in response and she firmly pressed the button and promptly left the room. What? Lunch was hours ago!
Her feet took her where she needed to go, usually, but of course after having such an uneventful day now would be the time for something to happen. She took off in a soft jog, just trying to get to the kitchen a bit faster. She made it halfway there before a new student getting a tour stepped right in front of her. She tried to skid to a stop and as she began to tumble forward, nearly colliding with them-
BLINK!
She appeared in a steaming room, her shoulders hunched in the anticipated collision. When none happened she opened those pupil-less green eyes and peered around. Showers, she could hear showers. "Hello?" She called out and a boy with only a towel wrapped around his waist walked past her with a goofy grin. "Oh you have GOT to be kidding-"
BLINK!
She appeared in the gym out of nowhere, landing on some poor sap who was busy lifting weights. The crash was rather audible and as a result a few people were beginning to gather. "Son of a b-"
"ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?"
She looked down at the fella she was now sitting on and shrugged her shoulders. "Not on purpose broski."

Remy couldn’t hear anything, but as he looked over he noticed Blink sitting in some dudes lap. Clearly she had blinked herself into the room by accident, and found herself in a compromising situation as per usual. She was kind of a doofus, but she was cute. She amused him that was for sure, and she was a stellar thief. Thieving came easy to her with her ability to teleport. She blinked in, and out no smoke residue at all.
“Blink ya find a new boyfriend already sha?” he said with a laugh. He watched as she shuffled away from her neanderthal chair, and made her way over to him. She was all fashioned out as per usual. Remy wasn’t quite a man of style, it just sort of happens. He knows the look he wants, and it just so happens to work extremely well for him.
His eyes peered over sexy butt as she walked over near him. ”Since when did you start goin’ fer an ox?” Remy pulled out his earbuds as she most certainly was making faces at him by now. She seemed to enjoy doing that. ”So what ya doin’ sha? Was ya playin’ a game or practicin’ ya powers.” He said with a chuckle. He knew damn well she wasn’t practicing control on her powers. She was a mutant who just wanted to be a normal kid. Not so much that she was ashamed of her looks as far as he knew, but she didn’t think of herself any differently then anyone else. Other than a love for action, and adventure of course.
”Did ya eat yet? He asked looking down at her, and by incident down her shirt also. She was a smoking hot mutant, and he couldn’t deny he enjoyed just how unique she was. ”Gimme like twenty mo’ minutes, and Remy go eat wit’ ya no?” He said continuing his jogging as he took another swig of water waiting for her response.

Clarice blinked over at the sound of Remys voice, giving him a dirty look. "A 'new' boyfriend? You say that like I had one." As soon as she said it she regretted it. It was not something most girls really wanted to admit, and the few giggles that erupted from the bimbos in the corner was proof enough. She turned those pupil-less green eyes on them, a fire burning in them. She'd had enough bullshit from your run of the mill humes. She did not need to be mocked by her own kind... But it hadn't stopped them. After all even in the mutant world she was out of the ordinary. Imagine her surprise when her fellow classmates walked in looking like normal people. Even Remy could pass for a hume if he kept sun glasses on. Though personally she thought those eyes were far too fascinating to cover up.
Blink pushed off the older student and as he grunted, mumbling obscenities she rolled her eyes. "Sheesh. Ya lift weights all day but you can't hold up a girl who's practically considered a midget..." He started to say something in his defense, or to insult her, either way she didn't stay to find out. It wouldn't do well to punch the bull in the horns. She approached Remy, doing her best not to check him out... but failing. Only a little. She hid it well enough, not making goo goo eyes at him like every other estrogen based life form within a four foot radius of him. She swore he had some other power he hadn't told her about. One that made her fellow classmates trip over themselves and recite poetry... Even today she'd been sitting in Calc and noticed the girl next to her had written their names together in a big red heart.
Ignorant little...
Didn't they know there was no use in relationships? She supposed not seeing as half the student body was so occupied with who was doing who and who was taking who where.. All the while Blink just wanted to figure out how to keep herself from teleporting into the mens room... After all she'd gone in for a shower in the girls locker room and had to do the oddest walk of shame out of the mens not twenty minutes later. That'd been a few weeks ago, but regardless it was getting ridiculous.
She threw a thumb over her shoulder, making a face at Remy. "That thing? No. The Hulk isn't my type.." She snorted and glanced over her shoulder at the bimbos where were more than happy to give her some of the dirtiest looks she had in weeks. Why? Well she was talking to Remy and he was talking back. Every teenage girls fantasy here at M High it seemed. She rolled her eyes and turned back, "No I was not playing games ya butt. I was headed to the kitchen when a tour of noobs showed up. I nearly killed all of 'em. Instead I ended up here." She said with a shrug, leaning her head on the podium of the treadmill.
"And of course I haven't eaten yet. If I had I wouldn't have landed on Triple H over there." She teased, tossing her thumb in 'the ox's' direction a second time. She pouted then, looking at the clock. "Twenty mo minutes." She said, mocking his accent to the best of her ability is way too long. She looked him over, reaching her hand around to the buttons on the treadmill. "You're all sweaty. You've been here all day, I can tell." Even as she said it her finger lightly pressed the up button, kicking both the speed up a notch and occasionally the incline. "I think you've had enough, Rem."

Remy listened as he kept up his pace. He chuckled as she spoke in her usual gamer lingo. He thought it was odd that she had taken to the video game customs so quickly having spent so much time on the streets. Remy remembered what she was like when she had nothing, and being who they were was about survival. She had seemingly assimilated to the good life rather easily.
Then she began pressing buttons as the speed, and incline increased on him. She was trying to get him to get off, but ever the showoff decided it was a fine time to do so. His pace quickened with the speed and incline accordingly. As a former thief he was use to dealing with awkward inclines, and running across angled rooftops in NOLA on a regular basis.
He maintained his balance as the incline rose higher. The machine eventually reached it’s max incline, and limit on speed as Remy was able to keep up with it for well over a three minutes. To most people that looked easy, but that was only because he made it look easy. Holding that pace, and incline on anyone else would have resulted in a much quicker crash. He grabbed his water bottle taking a long drink from it. ”Fine, fine. Still going to miss Wine with dinner.”
He made his way with her out of the workout room with Blink. She was kind of a pain, but she was a very attractive pain. He followed her into the kitchen, and proceeded to make himself a sald with some plain white chicken meat. He didn’t like the eat after working out, but this wouldn’t hurt any. He grabbed some bottled water out the fridge, and took a seat on one of the counters. ”So how ya enjoyin’ the school so far trouble?”

Blink watched him speed his pace and keep up with the tread mill as she drastically changed all the settings to max. "Show off." She muttered, stepping back to cross her arms over her chest and wait. When he finally shut down the machine and took a drink of water she resisted the urge to knock it out of his hands. Such was the way of Blink. Remy was basically the only person here she spoke to. Her playful nature was part of the package, but he knew about his mischief. After all she'd pranked him one too many times back in the day. She tapped her foot sarcastically as he gathered his things and then they were off.
Less than ten minutes later they were headed into the kitchen. He made himself a salad but Blink needed something more substantial. She opened the fridge to peer in while he spoke. "Oh y'know same ol same ol. Holy shit she's pink! Look at those weird eyes! Her ears are pointed what the hell.." She said with the shrug of her shoulders pulling out a Dr. Pepper and sandwich makings. She popped the top of the aluminum can and tugged out two slices of bread. "You just got those pretty little eyes to hide and no one bothers you." She chuckled holding up a hand with a butter knife. She pointed to her entire self. "I gotta worry about all this."
She shrugged once more, "Though it doesn't seem the ladies mind your eyes much." She teased neglecting to add that she was one of them.
Blink slid a bit of mayo over a slice of bread throwing on a slice of cheese, meat, lettuce, and tomato before topping it with the other slice of bread. She was so thankful she didn't have to worry about trying to eat anymore. At least until she left.. She was leaving at some point. "But other than the usual stares and glares it ain't so bad. Roof over my head, food in my stomach, and all the video games I can get my hands on. So it's been pretty nice." She added nonchalantly.
Blink took a bite from the sandwich, her eyes closing a moment to enjoy the taste of real food and not scraps. Damn that was good.. She "What about you, Rem?" She asked in return, hopping up on the counter across from him. Her feet swung lightly, dangling as per her usual. She looked up at the ceiling a moment still amazed she'd even gotten here. She thought she'd be forced to live on the streets for the rest of her life. She still had a backpack packed in her closet for the day they told her to leave. At least then she'd have something to go off of.
Not like when her parents left her.
For a moment she was lost in the memory. The smell of her mothers perfume and the alcohol on her fathers breath. The sweet earthy smell of the man walking past with a cigar. And of course the crowd of people her parents led her into, letting her hand go and disappearing forever. She wondered about them from time to time, but her love for them quickly curled into something angry.
She shook her head, taking a drink of Dr. Pepper to shake that old dream of a memory and turned back to Remy. "Have you gone out at all? To The city?" She asked curiously. It was her discreet way of asking if he'd done any thieving lately. While Blink was getting used to this quiet life she still felt her fingers twitch when someone made themselves an easy target.
Had to remember she didn't need to fight to survive. At least not right now.

He tore into his salad as she took to making her sandwich. He listened as she listed the varying issues she had with even other mutants. He was surprised that such bigotry would go on here. He never really thought about perception in this place, but it made sense. Every school had it’s cliques and clearly suffering from being a very obvious mutant.
He didn’t care though. ”Don’t let none of that bug ya chere. Remy always thought ya looked beautiful.” He said grinning from ear to ear his glasses still hiding his eyes. He was still wearing the glasses but it wasn’t because he was hiding the mutation. They always said windows were the eyes to soul and the last thing he wanted was someone peering into his soul. Then she asked how he was enjoying it in their new digs.
”Don’t know. Never been to a school before. Guess it’s new. I like that Danger Room stuff, and plenty sports things. I guess I never really thought about the other people.” All he was really telling her is that he really didn’t pay attention to people around him. Everyone were like shadows. Some were gorgeous shadows that could certainly catch his eye but his aloofness often brought them to him.
He knew he got a lot of attention. He was constantly told how good looking he was or how sexy his accent was. That was all very nice but it lacked any kind of challenge. He actually preferred women who seem to lack interest in him more. His mind wandered to women who had slept with him just for the fact he was a mutant. He often enjoyed the ones who would go on tears about hating mutants but would sleep with him still.
Then she asked if he had been back to NY recently. The question broke his chain of thought as he munched on his salad. ”Nah the thought hadn’t crossed my mind as of late. I think i’m just enjoying the peace for now. I’m sure i’ll need some money soon.” He said with a smirk. He never really needed money but he did like having it.

Blink couldn't stifle the blush that crept into her cheeks. Luckily her skin was already a rosy shade of pink so she just had to assume no one could see her blushes. Though it wasn't true in the least. "D-Doesn't bug me. They can keep their normal faces and eyes. I've got character." She said with a smirk. True she was insecure, what girl wasn't, but it didn't mean she had to show it. Especially not to someone who could tease the ever living hell out of her for it. She took another drink of Dr. Pepper and nodded. "Yeah. Before I was on the streets I was in a public school for a while. But the 'rents took me out when they started getting weird letters about my eyes and skin." She shrugged her shoulders.
"But pubs was nothing like this fancy place."
A sour look crossed her features as she remembered the so called homeschooling her parents were trying. Just to protect their pretty little reputations. In a town that already knew about their pink daughter. She scowled to herself, but it lacked any real substance as she remembered the brother that had shown her kindness. She still missed Damien. But she wondered if he had ever actually tried to find her. He'd been on vacation with his girlfriends family when her parents had ditched her in a crowd. Did they lie to him and tell him she'd run away? Or maybe she died? Whatever, what good was it to dwell on that.
She cleared her throat, taking in a deep breath and letting it out. "I dunno. I'm just waiting for the boot to come." She blurted, her mouth saying things it should have kept to itself. She didn't need someone to pity her because she never really had a home. Never spent the night in the same bed. Not since she was 10 at least. She gave him a cheeky grin, trying to shrug off the fact that she'd just slipped up. Sometimes she forgot that people were just acquaintances. Especially when she spoke with Remy. After all they'd known each other before this mutant school.
But friends were temporary. Everything was.
For a moment or two she sunk back into herself, a bit of silence stealing away her voice and the friendly smile. She didn't really know what else to say. So instead she simply munched on her sandwich and drank her soda.

“You keep thinkin’ negative things, and negative things will keep happenin’ to ya.” He said as he slid off the counter throwing his bowl in the sink. He made a quick check of who had dirty dishes chore before walking out of the room with Blink following him. ”Life is an extension of your own personal perceptions.” Remy put his hands together in a prayer style, and bowed to her in all his sage like advice.
They made their way onto the patio that overlooked the garden maze. ”Stop worrying about things you can’t control, and focus on what you can control. This place is kind of nice. It ain’t the swamp to be sure, but I can’t complain.” He said as he looked down at the lake at some random kids down there in swimwear jumping into the water. ”One day we’ll be back out in the thick of the world, but for now just enjoy the fresh air.”
Remy blocked out the images in his head of that night. He knew all too well what it was like to be thrust into a situation that you had no control over. He had come to learn that you could only control so much in your life, and right now they had a firm grasp over their immediate future. He was certainly looking to do some good for himself. He had no plans to give up thieving, but he also had his future to think of. He knew eventually his agility and body would begin to break down. The idea of graduating college was a nice safety plan for the future.
Then his mind rested on the idea of college girls, and college parties. He couldn’t be more satisfied with his current situation in life. He was taking it in stride, and going to take everything that this institution was willing to give him.

Clarice listened to him spout his wisdom. She wanted to believe him, honestly she did, but life had dealt her a bad hand. Her eyes wandered around the room they occupied before she followed him out. Well, perhaps not too bad a hand these days. She stared down at the lake for a while, watching her fellow mutants play together. She'd forgotten what it was like to have real friends. Had she ever had real friends? Sure she confided in Remy, but they didn't really know each other. She liked him, the way a teenage girl ought to, which could definitely play into why she did choose to talk to him so often. But he wasn't her only friend. After all Austin had brought her here in the first place. He was still here.. somewhere.
Clarice looked down at her feet a moment, lost in thought. "I don't know how." She said quietly, more to herself than to him. It was the truth. After being abandoned she hadn't figured out how to look at the world in a positive light. In her eyes everything faded. You could have friends for a day, or a year. They'd always leave one way or another. What did the world have to offer her that was good? This school? Maybe for now. Remy? Austin? Maybe one or two more 'friends' she could meet? That wouldn't last long. She was still surprised she and Remy were as close as they had grown.
Which wasn't too completely close, but it was enough for the magenta teen.
She glanced at him a moment, wondering how he did it. How on earth did he just take in all of the world and somehow filter out the bad? Never seemed to let anything get on his nerves. Never seemed to let anything get under his skin. Or anyone under his skin, for that matter. While most of the time Clarice felt like an open wound. She once more got lost in her thoughts, her eyes slightly glazed over as she looked at him without really seeing him. Would she never get over her abandonment? It didn't seem that way.
Shaking her head to get a grip on her rather morose thoughts she let out a heavy sigh. "At least I get to sleep inna bed." She said with a sheepish smile, trying to find the good in her life. There wasn't too much, but having a bed and a roof was definitely an improvement. "Much better than the makeshift pads we had on the streets, eh?" She added, shoving her hands in her pockets awkwardly.
