Warren stepped up to the podium looking over the first of the new students of Mutant High. They were certainly a wild bunch as compared to what was here previously but he was prepared to show that this type of institution was needed for mutant kids. He felt confident and was quite content with his current staff in place.
He was happy to have Jean at the school. Despite how his feelings for her were when they were younger. He never thought was very good for her, but she chose him. Of course Scott was no longer around. He focused his attention at the students washing away thoughts of Jean. ”Welcome to Xaviers School for Gifted Youngsters.”
He had a confident smile on his face as he held his chin up high while speaking to his new students. ”My name is Warren Worthington the Third. I own this school and am happy to welcome you all to Orientation. I know you all have lots of questions.”
He paused only briefly to glance over them one last time. ”Don’t worry i’ll keep this as short as possible. Classes will be from Eight AM to Four PM. After that is your time to enjoy the dorms, the yard, or the living area’s. We have a gym, swimming pool, and of course a constantly stocked kitchen. Of course many of you are given a small allowance to stock your own mini fridges in your rooms with drinks or snacks. During class hours you will dress as if you were employed. No we will not enforce a dress code, but you will be expected to look presentable.”
He noticed a certain uniform groaning from the students. ”You don’t have to wear slacks and polo’s. Just nice clothes with no offensive terminology, no ripped jeans, and no over sexualized clothing in class. We can’t tell you how to dress after class, but please keep it tasteful as possible on school grounds would be greatly appreciated. Lunch is served in two periods. First lunch is at eleven while second lunch is at noon. You’ll be given a schedule notifying you of which one you fall under. We also understand if accidents happen, just inform of us any damages to your rooms so that way we can have it repaired as soon as possible. Other than that i’d like to introduce your new Principal Jean Grey.”
He stood to the side of the podium so that she might take it and introduce herself briefly. He knew she didn’t like doing speeches in front of groups often but she needed to at least let the students get a universal welcome from her as well.

Jean was a little bit more nervous than she should have been, but she shone through it in a collected and professional manner, as she always had. There was a certain air about her that simply commanded attention, despite her rather meek appearance. She wore a smart looking black suit jacket, well fitted to her form, beneath it an emerald green button down shirt, and to bring it all together, a knee length pencil skirt and black dress shoes with small heels. Her hair was pulled up in a tight bun and she approached the podium exuding confidence.
She cast her green gaze around the room momentarily and then her face broke into a wide smile.
"I know many of you are lost, scared and confused,
[/b]" she began, her small but loud voice ringing out over the room and commanding everybody's attention. " I was once just as lost; the sheer power inside my head, at my fingertips too much to bear. I had so much learning to do and so many were getting hurt by what I could do. This place helped me to learn, helped me to reach out and use my powers for the betterment of mankind and mutantkind alike, and even to begin to live a normal life. You all have been handed amazing gifts far beyond that of our fellow man, I urge you to come to us with any concerns or questions you may have.[/b]" She then went ahead to project to the room, in case any of them were wondering. We are here to help.Jean nodded politely and went to stand by Warren's side, actually a tiny bit unsure whether or not she should have done that. She knew she sounded wishy-washy but it was difficult not to when you were trying to reach out to so many students at once. She smiled at her superior briefly before looking out and watching the students.[/blockquote][/justify]

Bobby smiled as he stood at the back of the school. He then listened to both Warren and Jean. Both had beautiful speeches to give, but Bobby would end up with a bit more of a flare. Standing up off his seat he waited till Jean was done and then shot up into the sky in his full ice form. Gliding as he made a slide toward Remy and Jean he spoke out loud to them.
"Nice speech guys. Now lets get to the fun shall we?" Bobby then smiled as he turned around and faced the students. "I would like to welcome each and every one of y'all. Some of y'all are old students returning, and some are brand new. As a student at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters we are perhaps one of the few schools that are...unique. Each one of us are unique in our own way and as such some of the teachers here will be assisting some of y'all in more ways then one. We are mutants and we are proud."
With that said he smiled and then shot up several ice projectiles and made them explode. "WELCOME TO XAVIER'S!!!" He then looked down from where he was and winked toward Kitty. Now lets see Colossus beat that.

Ruth sat quietly among the rest of her peers listening as the people in charge of running the school. Today she was clad in a tight fitting white t-shirt with a blue Star of David across her chest and a pair of jean shorts and flip-flops with her dark hair falling down over her shoulders loose. None of the information was anything she didn't already know or hadn't heard before. After all, if you'd heard one speech like this from a teacher or administrator then you'd heard them all. They were all basically the same kind of speech and all of them played off the same themes. Still, despite being bored with the entire proceeding Ruth had always been taught that you at least gave the impression of being interested and paying attention even if you weren't. That was simple manners.
She was somewhat impressed when the red-headed woman, Jean, projected a thought into her mind and, she assumed, everyone else's as well. Ruth made a mental note of that and to be careful to guard her thoughts as much as possible when around the telepath. One of the lessons that had been instilled in her by her training at the hands of the Israeli government was that no one should be trusted until they were known. She did not yet know anyone here truly well, not even her roommate, and for that reason she would be careful to remain guarded.
The Israeli girl was somewhat less impressed with the display put on by the man made of ice. Showboating, that's what it was, pure and simple. She'd known plenty of people like that from her classes at the kibbutz. People that were more interested in showing off what they could do instead of being responsible. Still, it was useful to know roughly what the man could do if there ever came to be any combat situations she would be better prepared. Still, if was better in her mind to be more guarded about what you could do, the element of surprise was something that was very powerful indeed.
Leaning back in her seat Ruth crossed her arms over her chest and watched and waited for the next person to take the stage for this opening little chat. It was indeed a chat and not a meeting. Meeting implied dialogue and there was no dialogue occurring between the students and administration at this juncture.

Austin was wearing a dark blue shirt, button up, with the sleeves rolled up just past his elbows. A pair of denim jeans and a plain tan pair of working boots was all he needed to look good. His hair was in a mess but conveniently done so that it didn't look like he'd just crawled out of bed, even if he had. As Warren came to the podium Austin pulled out his pack of menthol. He Struck a match and lit it with ease.
He wasn't addicted to them, in fact, he couldn't have been if he'd wanted to be, it was still however, relaxing. Taking a drag he let out the smoke slowly through his nose, keeping the smoke to linger around him. Toying with his powers this way was relaxing and almost serene.
He'd given up his seat for the number of a girl he'd just met, the crumpled paper was flipping between his fingers on his other hand with a confident smile. Austin didn't pay much attention to Warren with his speech, just enough to get the imagery of the what not to wear list, and honestly, he much preferred focusing on that. He would never admit he was more than upset that he'd had to drop out of school and was farther behind than anyone would think. He'd hate the under class men he'd have to take classes with, but that was life.
Jean walked up and sent a voice into his head. His finger crushed the end of the cigarette as he scowled looking at the red head step away from the podium. He hated that, absolutely unequivocally. He dropped the butt on the ground and stomped it out, holding out his hand the smoke swayed around and through his fingers. Booby was next and he put on quite a bit of a show. He seemed pretty (FML) chill but at the same time it was weird, he was staff? Did that mena Austin had to act differently around him, hell...like Feltz cared.

Colin had been so grateful to hear of this place. Slumming it in District X when he first arrived in New York was not what he planned. So when he learned of the Xavier Institute, he made his way there immediately. Now it was the first day of the school year, and Colin sat with all the other students waiting for the speeches he knew were to come. He figured it might be a bit different than his older schools, seeing as this was a school for mutants. He wasn't disappointed.
After Warren had spoke, it was Jeans turn. She finished up her speech by using her telepathy. Though it bothered him a bit to have her in his head without his permission, it wasn't enough to drive him away. Up next came Bobby Drake, and boy did he know how to put on a show. Ice sliding onto the stage and then firing off ice fireworks. It was something Colin had never seen before. From that point on, Colin felt wholeheartedly that he was going to love living and learning here.
As he looked around the room, he spotted two individuals in particular. One was a young lady who was failing miserably at trying to conceal the fact that she didn't want to be here. At least, that was what her posture was revealing to Colin. The other person he spotted was standing in the back twirling a piece of paper in his fingers. The part that struck Colin odd about this young man was that he was smoking. The key word there being was. He had just put his cigarette out as Colin turned to look at him.
