COLIN THEODORE SANDERS
PULSE // 14 // XAVIER INSTITUTE STUDENT // DAKOTA GOYO
"If you knew the kind of person you used to be...the work we did together..."[/color]
:: PERSONALITY ::
Colin is slightly emotional and a bit in touch with his feminine side. He enjoys chick flicks and isn't ashamed to cry when watching sad movies or listening to sad songs. He does try to keep this in check, and even lies about crying when asked.
Single minded to the point of recklessness, it is nearly impossible to talk him out of a decision once it's been made. He will go through with his plans even if they put his life at risk. Often his stubbornness stems from trying to protect or save his friends or family.
Colin is a naturally happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He always views the glass as half full and can always see the silver lining in any situation. He’s almost always smiling and enjoys joking around. His favorite thing to do when he isn't stuck working is to play practical jokes.
Colin is overly-anxious. He always dives head on into everything. He never thinks before he says or does anything. This often leads to fighting, most of which he barely manages to walk away from. The only time he has an advantage is when he's fighting a human, which he tries to avoid.
Being raised by a father who wholeheartedly detested mutants, many would think that Colin would be disgusted with himself. However, Colin never agreed with many of the same things as his father. Actually, he really didn't agree with his father at all.
Colin's father was an abusive alcoholic, so Colin has a hard time getting close to men, specifically older men. If an older gentleman reached out a hand to shake, Colin would flinch in response, scared of being hit. He is getting better at this, having been away from his father for over a year.
"You're not the only one with gifts."
:: MUTATION ::
- :: Ion Barrage ::
Colin is able to form energy into the palms of his hand and fire this energy at his opponents. He can fire one at a time or do a rapid fire shooting off similar to a semi-automatic gun. Furthermore, he can fire one out of each hand and cause a small explosion by making them explode on each other. Though the energy is constant, he does have to throw these blasts himself. Otherwise the energy just stays in his palms and eventually dissipate.- :: Force Field ::
Using this energy, he is also able to project a dome around himself. This dome blocks many attacks, and only those strong enough to penetrate the dome are capable Colin while it is up. A few examples of things capable of breaking through this barrier are mutants with superhuman strength, mutants with an accelerated healing factor, grenades, some missiles, and obviously nuclear warheads. He has to concentrate, otherwise the force field obviously wont be as strong and will easily fail.
"Living from day to day, moving from place to place, with no memory of who or what you are."
:: History ::
The first couple years of Colin's life seemed perfect. He was born to a mother and father who absolutely adored him. They also seemed to be completely in love with each other. As Colin grew, he learned that it had all been a lie. It turned out his father was an abusive drunk, and he would constantly beat his mother. After a few years of witnessing this, by the time he was nine, Colin started trying to stop his father, which led to Colin being beaten. Fearing for her life but not feeling she could care for Colin, his mother packed up her things and left, never to be heard from since.
A few years later, after he had turned eleven, Colin also started to realize something different with him compared to many of his male friends. He learned at an early age that he was attracted to both genders. He had to keep this hidden at home, because his father had made it clear that he would disown him if he was attracted to men. Over the years, he had made snide remarks about hating homosexuals and transgender people. His favorite thing was to say that he'd like to hunt them. Thankfully, Colin had a few friends at school he was able to confide in, and the told him everything would be okay. He figured that would be the only thing he'd ever have to worry about; he was wrong.
Another thing he had grown up hearing his father complain about was the "growing mutant problem", as his father called it. Well, a few days after he turned thirteen, Colin became a part of that problem. It was a Thursday afternoon, and Colin had just gotten home from school. It was immediately obvious that his father had been drinking. Apparently, he wasn't finished either. Talking in slurred words, he told Colin to grab him another beer from the fridge. When Colin told him to get it himself, his father lunged at Colin, who curled into a ball instinctively. However, before contact had been made, Colin heard a crashing sound. He looked up to see a yellowish dome surrounding him, and his father laying on the ground surrounded by the broken coffee table.
Colin thought he was safe now, but his father woke up and came after him again. Colin had decided he wasn't going to take it and took a swung at his father. What happened next was even more unexpected than the force field. His father was knocked back by a ball of energy that had fired from Colin's fist. Colin started to get very worried. He knew his father would kill him now, so he packed up all he could carry in his back pack and a duffel bag, and ran. He didn't know where he was going, but he knew it had to be far away.
After leaving his home, he traveled the country for almost a year. Along the way, he managed to survive by sneaking into homes when people were out and stealing food from these homes. When he needed new clothes, he would search for laundry mats, and sometimes he was luckier than others. After a few more months, he managed to make his way to New York. A few weeks went by before he learned of the Xavier Institute. He had been hanging around District X, hopping from home to home with any mutant that would let him stay with them. Finally making a decision, he left District X and make his way to the Xavier Institute, seeking refuge and perhaps finally something resembling a real family.
"Scream for me."

It was a starry night out, or at least it would be if not for the giant storm clouds that hung low in the sky. Rain poured down like a shower with extremely well water pressure. Colin pulled his hood tighter around his head, wishing he had thought to steal an umbrella on his last break in. "Why didn't I think to grab an umbrella all this time? I should have anticipated the rain." Too late to worry about that now, he just had to keep his hood up. It was his only protection from the elements.
Thankfully, Colin was almost to the place he was looking for. If he had been given the right directions, it should be right around this next corner. He had heard of it before, but had never thought to go there until he arrived in New York and someone suggested it to him. When they brought it up, it actually seemed pretty idiotic of him not to have thought of it before then. After all, the Xavier Institute for Gifted Individuals was widely known in the mutant community as being a safe haven. Of course, he had only learned of what the place really was a few months previously. Perhaps that is what led him to New York in the first place. Colin had no other reason to be in New York.
Turning that final corner, he spotted it. It was beautiful. Right there in front of him, behind a gate and a large drive way albeit, stood a beautiful mansion. It was quite obvious that it had once belonged to a family of importance. The fact that it had been transformed into a home and school for mutants still boggled Colin's mind, but he was thankful the place existed. It meant he had found a place where he could learn to control his powers rather than his powers going off at inappropriate timing. Taking a deep breath, he walked towards the front of the gate. "Well, here goes nothing."
