:: PERSONALITY ::
Julian is fiercely loyal to his companions and teammates and has shown a knack for leadership and tactics. In some ways he is a natural leader and his teammates tend to flock to him and look to him for directions regarding how to handle obstacles. Julian Keller is also very competitive and hates to lose at any endeavor whether it be sports, academics, or interpersonal, and this drive can be both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand it drives him to excel and always do his very best to win. On the other it can cause him to bend the rules, and even break them, if it's in his best interest to do so in order to win the game.
Of course, with the good also comes the bad. Keller can, from time to time, be a bit short-sighted acting on emotion when he should be thinking through a rational and logical response to the situations with which he is presented. There are also times when the teen can be seen as a bit arrogant in regards to his powers and abilities and more than a little bit stuck up. Coming from a monied and privileged background he can sometimes look down on others that don't share the kind of life that he was born into. Even though he was the black sheep of his family he was, pretty generally, raised to believe he was better than everyone else and it shows.
Julian also possesses something of a practical joker streak and his jokes have been known, on occasion, to reflect a little bit more of a mean spirited nature than a practical joke should contain. He can also be a bit of a loose cannon sometimes and, given that he doesn't have complete control of the immense telekinetic power at his fingertips, this can cause him to be extremely dangerous to himself and others since he has the ability to telekinetically alter matter at the molecular level.
"You're not the only one with gifts."
:: MUTATION ::
- :: Telekinesis ::
Julian is able to move solid matter with a thought. He can use this to various effects including: the creation of telekinetic shields, telekinetic force blasts, and object manipulation. He is capable of deflecting bullets and other small projectiles and physical attacks with his shields. His powers manifest themselves in a kind of telekinetic aura that gives an appearance of green energy and his eyes tend to glow green when he uses his powers. In contrast to most other telekinetics, Julian tends to focus and channel his mental energy almost exclusively through his hands. At his most powerful Hellion could pluck anything up to a weight of one hundred tons and hurl it like a child's toy, generate blasts powerful enough to level small buildings, and shields that could withstand the impact of a runaway locomotive. Though still growing into his powers at times they spike beyond his control into areas of being dangerously powerful. For this reason mental blocks were imposed on him to limit his powers. With extreme strain he can lift and throw most motor vehicles. He can also generate telekinetic blasts powerful enough to put someone through a brick wall, and put up shields that will deflect or stop all small arms fire.- :: Flight ::
Julian's telekinetic gifts also grant him the ability to fly, lifting both himself and others. At its most powerful he'll be able to fly at several times the speed of sound while bringing a small number of teammates along for the ride. With the mental blocks in place he is restricted to subsonic speeds and can only transport someone else if he is physically carrying them.
"Living from day to day, moving from place to place, with no memory of who or what you are."
:: History ::
Julian was born in a wealthy and well-to-do family that resides in Beverly Hills, California. Needless to say, Julian Keller wanted for nothing growing up as a child, except for perhaps his own personal roller coaster. Growing up Julian lived as normal a childhood as anyone could be expected to live, never suspecting that lying just beneath the surface, dormant for years, were unbelievable telekinetic mutant powers and abilities that would set him apart from almost everyone he knew as a child, including the other members of his family.
Something of a late bloomer in terms of his mutant abilities, Julian's powers did not manifest themselves until he was sixteen years old. However, Julian was quick to discover ways that he could exploit his powers for his own personal gain to make himself appear more than he was. This was most readily apparent in the area of athletics where seemingly overnight Keller developed into one of the best athletes that had ever attend the Brentwood School in Hollywood. Keller's powers allowed him to excel most notably as a pitcher on the baseball team where he set school and state high school records during his Sophomore year.
However, Julian couldn't continue to hide his powers from everyone, especially his family who encouraged him to stop using his abilities in such overt ways when out in public. Julian refused and eventually everything came crashing down around him when he was outed as one of the hated and feared mutants. Seemingly overnight all of the accolades he had accumulated were stripped from him. The friends he had thought he had deserted him, and he was left very much alone.
He was instructed by his parents to stop using his powers, and transferred to a different private school, things seemed to improve. Having been through the debacle of being outed as a mutant once Julian had no desire for a repeat experience. However, his powers were rapidly growing beyond his ability to control, as evidenced when he accidentally ripped down the entire back wall of the family's home.
His parents, interpreting that act as one of wanton disregard for what they had told him to do came down hard on Julian. Since they viewed the partial destruction of the home as disobedience and, in truth, somewhat feared their son, they immediately sought out an institute where he could be sent to learn to control his abilities. Preferably one that was as far away from the prying eyes of neighbors in California. In that regard the Xavier Institute was exactly what the doctor order and the Keller's quickly shipped their son across the nation to be enrolled in the special school for mutants in Upsate New York viewing it as a place where their son could continue to rebel and practice with and use his powers without them having to worry about any of the repercussions.

One batter, one out, one pitch. It was remarkable how baseball could be a game of ones, especially when a remarkably telekinetically gifted mutant teen was on the mound. Julian and his teammates were so close to winning the state championship for the first time in several years for their school. Julian himself was just a pitch away from completing the first perfect game in the history of the school. It was the last game of the season and the teen could see no reason why he shouldn't be allowed to end the season on the highest note possible. Of course, winning the state championship would be the highest note possible, but how much higher that note would go if the game was won by a pitcher tossing a perfect game and striking out somewhere in the neighborhood of fifteen batters.
Peering towards home plate over his glove Julian allowed his lip to curl with disdain as he regarded the opposing hitter and took the sign from his catcher as his teammate rolled through a series of signs that only he and Julian knew the meaning of. Getting the sign from the catcher Julian nodded on the mound and went into his wind-up. Coming from over the top, Julian released the ball and watched its progress, reaching out almost imperceptibly with his powers to control the progress of the baseball as it neared the plate. Julian watched as the batter began his swing and wiggling his fingers ever so slightly in his glove, Keller caused the ball to take a sudden dip right under the swing of the bat. There was a thwack as the baseball impacted the catcher's mitt, a signal from the umpire for strike three and an eruption of cheering from the fans in the stands.
"Better make that sixteen strikeouts," Julian muttered under his breath, pumping his fist in celebration as he was mobbed by his teammates on the mound. Somehow, the telekinetic mutant thought it fitting that he should strike out sixteen batters during the game. One for every year of his age. It just seemed right somehow.
Sometime later, after the cheering and congratulating was finished and over and Julian was sitting down with his mother, father, and brother for dinner at home, his parents predictably lit into the teen for having again used his powers in public. "Even though nobody else knows or suspects there's no reason for you to continue to tempt fate. We transferred you once already and I'd prefer not to repeat that experience," his father said angrily over his plate. "If we've told you once we've told you a thousand times that you're not to use your powers in public. Surely you remember what everyone thought of your 'abilities' at your previous school? Do you even think about what the potential consequences would be to the rest of us if it was discovered that you were a mutant? Again! Of course you don't! Today was the last straw..."
Julian just nodded his head and pretended to care about what his father was going on and on about. In truth, the teen couldn't care less about what his parents thought of him using his powers in public to make himself look better. Julian had been through this lecture time and time again, and this time was nothing different. Once dinner was over the rather one-sided argument would die out and Julian would retreat back to his room where he could continue to practice with and refine his powers in peace where he'd not be bothered by his parents and what they thought of their mutant son.
"Since you seem not to care we're going to protect the family by sending you to a school called Xavier's," Julian's father finally finished with a tone of finality, as if that settled things.
Of course, the name Xavier's hardly meant a thing to Julian. Probably just some made-up place meant to try and scare him into no longer using his powers in public. As if that was going to work. "Don't you think making up places to give strength to your threats is childish," Julian asked dryly, continuing to eat as if he were discussing nothing more serious than the day's weather.
"It's not a fake threat, Jules," his father replied. "We've learned of a boarding school far removed from the public eye, a place called Xavier's in New York state and we're going to be sending you there since you seem hellbent on not respecting mine and your mother's wishes regarding using your powers in public. You'll be leaving tomorrow, so you'd better go get started packing."
"It's not fooling me," Julian repeated in a bored sounding tone, continuing to eat. A second later his plate was bumped by some kind of a brochure that had been slid down the table to him by his father. Lazily Julian picked up the brochure and flicked lazily through it. It sure looked official anyway. Julian probably should have been angry about it, since it looked like he really was going to be sent away. But, he just couldn't quite bring himself to care all that much. Home had been seeming less and less like home lately and more and more like prison, a change of scenery and a departure from the every day lectures concerning his telekinetic gifts would be a welcome reprieve. Would probably make his parents sleep a lot easier at night too, not having to worry about what their freak son was going to get up to next.
"Well then, a change of scenery will be nice," Julian said, pushing back from the table and standing up to depart for his room. "For both of us," he said with an evil little smirk. Rising from the table he held out his hands and reached out with his powers. There was a horrendous ripping sound and the entire back wall of the house was suddenly ripped free and sent blasting several hundred feet backward before crashing down with the most ungodly amount of noise.
Well, he certainly hadn't intended to do that. The goal had been o throw everyone's food in their faces. Still, it made for a somewhat fitting last display of power and anger. And now everyone would know. Again. Exactly what his parents hadn't wanted. Without a word Julian marched from the dining room, waving a glowing green finger at his father and daring the man to say anything about what had just transpired.
"Welcome to Mutant High."
