HOPE ABBOTT
TRANCE // 17 // XAVIER STUDENT // MELISSA BENOIST
"If you knew the kind of person you used to be...the work we did together..."[/color]
:: PERSONALITY ::
Hope is a girl a little shy, because her parents didn't let her have a lot of friends and wanted her to be more centered in her "career". But she is more than ready to meet new people and make new friends. She is very nice and friendly and is willing to listen and help anybody who needs it. She is monotonous in many aspects, for example all the mornings she will wake up an will do jogging for an hour or less and then she would take a shower and have breakfast.
She likes reading, her favorite books are novels or stories about travels (her favorite writer Jules Verne). Her passion is the music, especially the classical music and she is starting to like jazz. She can't stand rap (she finds it annoying and very noisy) nor the songs with a very repetitive lyric (she finds them senseless). She doesn't like many of the modern musical clips, with the singers practically half naked or doing thinks without sense in those videos.
She loves performing music with her violin and would like to be a composer someday (she thinks is better perform your own music than playing always the music of others). She is sometimes seen writing scores on her free time. She is an average student but despite that she doesn't want to excel in classes. The only subject she hates is biology as she hated the idea to dissect a frog.
She is a girl that wants to have new experiences and do new things in her life, like learning how to cook. If someone has a very good idea to have fun, Hope will agree and will follow it, as she wanted to have new experiences in her life. But if she thinks that idea is awful or problematic , she will try to convince everybody that it's an awful idea. She dislikes bullying and mockery and she is very open with that opinion.
She admires strong willed people and she wanted to be a little more like them, but she wont stand the people that are bossy and if she see someone that abuse of his/her authority, she will face him/her no matter who he is.
She loves to use her powers whenever she can because in those moments she feels that she is free of all the problems that surrounds her. Because of this sometimes she considers her body as a prison but she knows that she still needs her body to live. But she sometimes found her powers a little useless, because when she is in her astral form, her body is vulnerable to attacks. She disagrees with people like her parents who says that mutants are ill people. She is a girl who thinks that mutations are gifts or talents. She is new in the mutant world, but she thinks that humans will accept mutants with time. She has read and heard about the sentinels and she is scared of them.
Hope has zero experience in combat and she prefers to avoid it, the main reason is that when she uses her powers, her body is left defenseless and she could be hurt easily. She only will battle in case that it's the only way. If that happens she first will search for a place to hide her body and then she will use her astral projection to fight.
Hope is a very calm and patient girl who will always follow all steps and rules, as her father said, "in life there is no short cuts" (one of the few advices that Hope followed of her parents).
"You're not the only one with gifts."
:: MUTATION ::
- :: ASTRAL PROJECTION ::
She can project an astral form of herself away from her physical body, and she can do a lot of feats in her astral form like phasing through walls and other objects, fly and generate blasts of some kind of energy blasts.
Weakness: While she is in her astral form, she left her body unconscious and defenseless, an easy target for enemies in battle and if her body is attacked she can feel the pain too in her astral form. If she concentrates she is able to touch solid objects or people.
When she is usually calm she can go back to her body. Her astral projection need to be in contact with her body to go back. If she is panicked when she tried to come back to her body, the union will be extremely painful for Hope. She can be out of her body for an hour without issues, but if she is out more time she could suffer a seizure.
Once Hope is back to her body, it takes a few seconds to finally wake up, and she could end a little tired depending of how long she had been outside her body.
Hope is still young so she is still learning the full potential of her powers. For example, when she is in her astral projection, she needs to concentrate a lot in order to touch solid things. She needs to be clam in order to summon her astral projection. If she is really nervous or scared, she could end lost control of her powers.
"Living from day to day, moving from place to place, with no memory of who or what you are."
:: History ::
Hope Abbott born in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She is the daughter of Ken and Leslie Abbott, a medium class family. Ken and Leslie were the kind of parents that have decided how their daughter has to live and behave before she was born. They wanted her to become a famous musician of a chamber orchestra so they decided to hire private teachers to teach her since she was six.
Because of this, Hope barely had time to socialize with people of her age. And her parents barely let her go out on weekends. In those moments, despite her love to music, she felt that her life was a prison, that she wouldn't learn anything about the real world and she was tired of always of performing the same scores constantly. And her private teachers never put things easy for her. She especially hated that her parents only showed affection to her calling her their "superstar". But in some way she found the freedom when she got 16 years.
The day she had to do an exam to enter in a prestigious conservatory, she was feeling sick and nervous. She said that she didn't want to do the audition and enter in that conservatory, but her father decided she would do the exam no matter how she felt. Hope, angry because her father didn't value her opinion, argued with him about it and with all the tension, Hope's manifested her astral form for first time. For Hope, it was the best and strangest moment in her life because she felt like all her worries vanished as she began to levitate. Ken Abbott, thinking it was a ghost, suffered a heart attack, but he was able to recover in the hospital. After he left the hospital, they get to the conclusion that Hope was a mutant. The way Ken and Lily treated their daughter changed in that moment: for example Ken started to avoid looking at her daughter and they stopped calling her "superstar".
They told her to never use her powers again, telling her that her powers were a sickness. That hurt a little the young girl but after that incident she wasn't very surprised by the behavior of her parents. Despite her parent's ban, she decided to use her powers secretly.
Her parents weren't sure of what to do with her daughter till they heard of Xavier's Institute. They enrolled her daughter to the institute with the hopes they could find a way to "cure" their daughter. Hope liked the idea thinking she could learn more about her powers and about herself away from her parents. She left her home, ready to move to the school and ready to be in control of her own life.
"Scream for me."

It had passed already two weeks since Hope enrolled in Xavier's and she was able to adapt very well to the classes. Most of the teachers were very nice and helpful, as she had bad experiences with teachers before she was a little scared and worried, but was glad that she was wrong. Many of the classmates were very nice and friendly, and only a few of them were "jerks". She was able to identify them soon so she could avoid them better, she clearly dislikes jerks. She didn't received a call nor a letter from her parents, but Hope didn't mind that. She knew the opinion of her parents and if they wanted to make contact with her again they should accept her first , Hope would wait and wouldn't force the situation.
The brunette girl woke up by the sound of the alarm clock and turn it off. Hope looked at the clock and saw that she had thirty minutes to prepare herself before classes. She got out of her bed and saw that her roommate was till sleeping. Hope just rolled her eyes and walked towards the bed and shook gently her roommate."C'mon Sleeping Beauty. We have classes and I think that after lunch we have a reunion or something"said Hope to the blond girl. "Ung...five minutes more, mom"."No way. I don't want you to be grounded today so get off bed now"replied Hope. "Ugghh...I hate you Abbott"replied the blond girl.
With a shy grin and without saying nothing, Hope ran towards her closet and grabbed a blue sweater and a red long skirt. After she dressed she started to comb her hair carefully."So what do you think of the reunion? Do you think it will be something really important?"asked a little worried and intrigued Hope. Dunno and the sooner that thing end the better for all of us"replied her roommate as she got up of bed. Hope grabbed her bag with the books and walked towards the door."Well I'll see you in algebra"said Hope before leaving her room. She was a little nervous by today, none of the teachers hadn't said anything about the reunion of this afternoon, but a part of her was sure that it was going to be a good thing for everybody."Well, here I go"
"Welcome to Mutant High."
